Estella was born in Hong Kong on 22 May 1958 and lived a full, adventurous life as a loving and devoted mother, wife, sister, and daughter. The first in her family to attend university, she moved to Canada to attend the University of Western Ontario and graduated the top of her class in Actuarial Science. She married Raymond Chiu soon after and had their beautiful daughter, Carol Jin Jin, before moving back to Hong Kong in the early 1990s. She was an avid traveler who loved exploring new places and befriending new people.

With a remarkable career spanning over four decades, she became a prominent leader in the financial industry across Asia. She was committed to improving the standards of the insurance industry through her senior positions at HSBC and KPMG, as the first female leader of the Actuarial Society in Hong Kong, and as the inaugural Chairman of the Greater China Committee of the Society of Actuaries USA. She believed strongly in paying forward her success and actively nurtured the careers of many young insurance professionals. She is survived by her daughter Carol Jin Jin, husband Raymond, and mother Madam Chan Hing Sai, as well as her siblings, Kwan, Linda, and Vince, and a loving extended family. We will dearly miss her enthusiastic love of life and generous warmth.
